As you may have read on my home page my name is Kay LittleJohn. I want to share with you a little about who I am.
Let's start off with the really boring computer stuff. I started working in the computer industry back in 1986. I worked mostly for pharmaceuticals and a few banks. In the first part of my career I was a System Engineer. As a System Engineer I worked with a small team on maintaining our local area network, installing all new desktops and laptops, providing technical support for our staff and training our staff (DOS, Novell, SAS).

Then around 1996 I moved into the Desktop Engineering field where I became a Desktop Engineer. This is where I learned web development work. We were required to setup our own web servers (Windows NT running IIS at this point) and maintain them to be used for housing our engineered images that were used for deployment on all new desktops/laptops. Also these servers were used to create project web sites that contained our documentation and bug fixes for the images that we engineered and
created for rollout with in the company. The documentation we created for our engineered images were in HTML format. This made our documentation, images and bug fixes easy to access, since everyone in the company had access to our intranet and therefore had access to our web servers. This was my first big exposure to web development. I was hooked.
About 7 years ago, I decided to move back to these mountains that I always considered
home. I had been living in the Philadelphia area where I worked for some large corporations. I became so burned out working for large corporations and I missed these beloved mountains, so I decided to shift gears entirely and start make flutes for a while with my partner, Danny Bigay. I have been around flute making for many years. You see, my father was a flute maker. Flutes have been a part of my life
for long time. As our flute making business was just getting off the ground, and with my former computer training, I soon realized we needed a web site. So I created a web site for our new flute making business, Mountain Spirit Flutes.
As time went on, people that we would meet through our flute making business and our travels, started asking me if I would create a web site for them. For a long time I resisted. I didn't want to fall back into my old burned out state. I wanted to continue being creative and enjoy what I did for a living. I love having the balance
between my creative side and my technology side. Soon I realized that it was much more enjoyable working for myself and providing a service for people that were very much like us. People who were artist, small business owners or individuals needing a web site to assist them in making their way in the world. I find my work most satisfying these days.

So, that brings us to today. I find that a lot of my time these days is focused on web development, but I'm enjoying it a great deal. My life certainly is more balanced these days. I love being able to walk in both worlds (Indian
Flute Making and Web Development). I feel I have the best of both worlds.
I have launched this web development business, called Paint Creek Web Creations. I chose Paint Creek as part of my business name because we live on Upper Paint Creek in the most eastern part of Tennessee. The reason the creek is called Paint Creek is because there is so much ochre rock in and around it. In days gone by, ochre rock was used to create paint by our ancestors that lived in this area. We actually use the ochre rock today as stone inlay into our high end flutes. The colors are very earthy and are just beautiful, which I so love.
